The Courts of Cabanatuan City

Cabanatuan City has two locations for its courts.

The Hall of Justice consists mainly of the Metropolitan Trial Courts in Cities and DOJ agency offices. It is found along Maharlika Highway.

On the other hand, the Regional Trial Courts are found on the old Capitol Complex.

As a backgrounder, Cabanatuan City used to be the capital of Nueva Ecija until Palayan City was declared as the new capital.

We got to learn about the location of the two Justice Halls when we went there to personally file a case for our client. Every now and then, we personally file cases, especially ones located in provinces and which require me to confer with court personnel so that we would get to know about “court traditions” in their place.

When filing cases, the first step is to look for the Office of the Clerk of Court and to get to know the filing fee and the number of court to inquire as to which branch the case was raffled.

Filing successful. 🙂

Quick lunch at Edna’s Cakeland in Cabanatuan City

It was a hot afternoon and we have just filed a case on behalf of our client at the Regional Trial Court in Cabanatuan City. My hubby and I are tired of rice meals and we were wondering where on earth would we be having lunch. Fortunately, a close friend of mine whose husband hails from Cabanatuan City is just a phone call away. She suggested that we try the pastas, pastries and coffee at the aromatic Edna’s Cakeland. 🙂

You would not find Edna’s Cakeland at a busy street in Cabanatuan City. Edna’s Cakeland is located at a quiet subdivision named Kapitan Pepe Subdivision. It has obviously established its reputation among Novo Ecijanos as people kept coming in when we were there: whether to order cakes, buy boxes of pastries, or just like us, to dine in and taste hot meals, pastries, and coffee.

The place is huge and clean, with long counters filled with cakes and goodies. You would love the coffee tables and chairs, the lighting, and the cool, well-functioning ACs. Plus, the price of food and drinks is very reasonable. We spent less than five hundred pesos and we had pasta, pastries and coffee to show for that price.

For lunch, we ordered Baked macaroni, Carbonara, and coffee. Mine is iced Mocha with flavored syrup (I forgot the flavor of the syrup but I lurve it), while my hubby had hot cappuccino.

I think the baked mac is one of the best sellers, but I really enjoyed the Carbonara. 🙂 I was not able to taste the cappuccino that my hubby ordered but he says it’s good. The iced coffee is awesome that my hubby said he’ll order it on our next visit. He was able to take a few sips. 🙂

We ordered pastries for take-out since we have to go back to Manila immediately. My hubby had Danish pastry with blueberry and custard creme filling, while I ordered coffee bun. We both enjoyed the Danish pastry. 🙂

It was such a quick lunch. Not enough time to taste Edna’s Cakeland’s other famous dishes like empanada, pies and cakes. Anyway, there will be a next time since the case we filed will have its share of court hearings. We will surely come back. 🙂
