Church visit at Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo City

Tayo na sa Antipolo Church

Hearings at Antipolo City gave us opportunity to visit the Antipolo Church or the shrine of “Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage”. Visiting the Antipolo Church gave me nostalgic memories of childhood, when we used to go there with my parents and grandparents. I had an old picture of my grandfather carrying me at the parking lot of Antipolo Church, him wearing a hat during that sunshiny Antipolo day. After going to church, we would be buying kasoy (cashew), which I then pronounced as “ka-shoy”. 😀

It has been customary for most Filipinos to go up in Antipolo City and to pray at the Virgin Mary of Antipolo whenever they are about to embark on a long journey. At the back of the church, religious items and prayer books are available, especially for those who want to pray or novena for safe travel.

Sidetrip to Angono, Rizal

Last December 2012 (my birthday month), we spent quite a lot of time in Binangonan, Rizal due to resetting of hearings.

Coming from Manila, the town preceding Binangonan is Angono. Popularly known as the country’s “Art Capital”, this municipality truly lived up to its name based from the art galleries and artistic wooden curves found on restaurants and cafes scattered all over town.

After our hearing in Binangonan, we took a side trip to the funky town of Angono. 🙂

Our client, who is born in Angono, highly recommended us to try Scrapyard Cafe and Restaurant. We had our lunch there before going back to Manila.

The food is sumptuous. It’s the traditional “binalot sa dahon ng saging” rice and viands. They call it “Minalot“. You would love the sisig minalot and adobo minalot.

We sat near the window and it is refreshing to see the busy world outside. Scrapyard Cafe is located at Manila East Road.

There are other eye-catching restaurants in Angono, like the Balaw-Balaw Specialty Restaurant, which is famous for exotic dishes.  😀

Antipolo City: The last time I was here, I was only a kid.

The last time I was here, I was only a kid.

This was taken last September 2012. I had a hearing on Lores, Antipolo for an ejectment case. My client is one of my closest buds in law school. After the hearing, we went to the Antipolo Church, known famously as the National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.

This can be seen from the parking lot of Antipolo Church. Can’t help but take a snapshot as a memento of that unforgettable hearing. 🙂

Meanwhile, the picture below was taken by my hubby while we were inside the Municipal Trial Court in Cities of Antipolo. The roof of the courtroom is transparent. The sun highlights the colorful hairs of the lawyers on the counsel’s table (guess which one is mine). 😀
